Use the VA Claim Tracker App & Extension
The VA claim tracker app allows you to check your claim’s progress from your mobile device.
You can also schedule VA appointments, message your VA health care providers, and access additional benefits information.
Additionally, some web browsers offer a VA claim tracker extension, which provides quick access to claim status updates without logging in every time.
The status tool won’t show the exact decision date, but if your status is “complete,” the VA has already mailed your letter.
For some types of claims, decision reviews, and appeals, you can also download your decision letter in the tool as soon as it’s ready.

Check My VA Claim via Phone
You can also call the VA for information about your claim status. This option is helpful if you need detailed clarification on your claim.
Call 1-800-827-1000 and follow the recorded instructions to speak with a VA representative. Their hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 A.M. to 9 P.M. Eastern Time.
It’s highly recommended that you call early in the morning, as you could be waiting 30 minutes or more when calling during peak times.
Note: If you haven’t received your decision letter within 10 business days of the “decision notification sent” stage, you can call the VA for assistance, though it may take longer due to mail delays, holidays, or rural delivery times.
Visit a VA Regional Office
Another method to check the status of your VA claim is to visit a VA regional office in person.
It’s best to search for the closest VA regional office to find the hours of operation because they will differ for every office.
You’ll need to bring a valid photo ID, social security number, or your VA claim number.
