A little about Geneva
Military service runs deep in my family. Nearly all the men in my life (my father, grandfathers, uncles, and brothers) served in either the Army or Air Force. I knew I wanted to follow in their footsteps, but I also wanted to forge my own path. That’s why I proudly became the first woman in my family to serve, and I chose the United States Navy.
I served as an Aviation Structural Mechanic, maintaining and repairing aircraft and ensuring they were always mission ready. I loved the hands-on work, the problem-solving, and the sense of pride that came from keeping our birds in the air. But like so many Veterans, I didn’t fully understand the benefits I had earned when I separated from service. It wasn’t until years later that I began the VA claims process; and let me tell you, it was confusing, overwhelming, and often frustrating.
Through persistence and a lot of research, I eventually achieved a 100% VA disability rating; not just for myself, but I also educated multiple family members in the process and received the benefits they deserved. That experience opened my eyes and my heart. I realized that too many Veterans are underrated or overlooked, simply because they don’t know where to start, how to explain their issues, or how to present their case.
That’s what brought me to VA Claims Insider. I became a Veteran Coach to be the educator I wish I’d had, someone who truly listens, explains things in plain language, and stands beside you every step of the way. I know how personal and vulnerable this journey can be, and I take that responsibility seriously.
