VA Hotline: Phone Number for VA Claims

If you have questions about VA benefits and services, you can call 1-800-827-1000. If you need immediate assistance, have questions, or require support for any VA-related issue, you can contact the VA Hotline for help. It’s available to assist with a wide range of topics. This is also the phone number for VA back pay if you have questions regarding the money you are owed.

If you’re waiting for VA retroactive pay (back pay) related to your VA disability claim or benefits, you can always call 1-800-827-1000 to check the status of your backpay and see when your retroactive payment can be expected. 

VA White House Hotline

The White House hotline serves veterans, veteran families, caregivers, and survivors with a direct, nonemergency contact phone number. Agents are staffed 24/7 and trained to address general and common VA questions and inquiries.

Fax Number for VA Claims

You can fax the VA at 1-844-531-7818 with questions regarding your VA claim.  

Phone Number for eBenefits

For support with your eBenefits account, including technical issues, such as DS Logon password changes or system error codes, call 1-800-983-0937.

HealtheVet Login Contact Information

My HealtheVet allows you to refill prescriptions, keep track of appointments, securely communicate with your healthcare team, and view your health records.  

However, if you have any issues logging in, you can call 1-877-327-0022 for assistance.

If you need to update your personal information, including your mailing address or change your health insurance, call CHAMPVA at 1-800-733-8387.

CHAMPVA Meds by Mail

You may be eligible to receive CHAMPVA meds by mail.

VA Community Care Network

The VA Community Care Network helps offer veterans quality health care outside the VA, when necessary.

Foreign Medical Program (FMP)

If you’re a veteran receiving medical care outside the U.S. for a service-connected condition, the VA may cover the cost of your care through the Foreign Medical Program.

Quit VET (Quitting Tobacco)

The VA offers a free telephone hotline for those interested in quitting tobacco. Counseling is available in English and Spanish.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET 

Dispute Your VA Copay Charges

You can dispute all or part of your VA copay charges, but it’s best to dispute the debit within 30 days of receiving your bill to avoid late charges.

VA Number for the GI Bill

For questions or assistance with your GI Bill benefits, call 1-888-442-4551. While you can’t make changes to your application over the phone, you can call about VA education benefits.

Military One Source Employee Assistance Program

For help with the Military One Source Employee Assistance Program, call 1-800-342-9647.

Homelessness and Housing Assistance for Veterans

National Call Center for Homeless Veterans

The phone number for the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans is 1-877-424-3838. You can make a free, confidential call any time of day if you or a veteran you know is at risk of homelessness. 

The VA offers permanent housing assistance for homeless veterans and those at risk of homelessness.

The Disabled Veterans National Foundation offers food assistance for veterans and their families.

VA Health Transportation Assistance

The Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) provides safe and reliable transportation to Veterans who require assistance traveling to and from VA healthcare facilities and authorized non-VA healthcare appointments.
