A little about Joey
First and foremost, I'd describe myself as selfless and focused on being an empathy-driven leader. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, hanging out with Scarlett (my dog), going on long hikes with some great views, and spending time with my family. People enjoy my entity because I'm 100% authentic to who I am.
I knew I was the best fit for this role because I not only am a veteran but know what it feels like to go through the claims process of my own. I knew what it felt like to be lost in the system, and now I'm going to make sure every veteran knows they deserve more than the minimum and they truly matter. I have also founded Above the Stigma, a non-profit organization that provides free and affordable mental health resources to historically marginalized communities.
Through lived experience, I know how difficult it can be to feel left out and unappreciated in the system. Veterans deserve a coach willing to fight for the benefits and compensation they deserve.
I enlisted at 17 while still in high school and served from September 2010 to July 2015. I joined because I had no direction and wanted my college paid for. I was a C-17 Crew Chief.
I learned that you never know what people are going through so be your caring self and be the light in people's lives. I'm currently at a 70% VA rating with Bipolar/PTSD/Depression brought on by service-related traumas.
